2019 - Mommy Life Up North

Newborn Must Haves 2019

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be back with another post. Life has been pretty crazy the last couple of weeks! On November 25th we welcomed our baby boy into the world. It has been over 2 1/2 years since we had a newborn so all the essentials finally came back to us! I thought it would be the perfect time to write up some of our favorite newborn must haves.

Activity/Play Time:

  • Bouncy Seat- this is something I would recommend everyone to have right away. We kept the one we had for Mila since she had loved it so much from the first day we brought her home. And now we are using it for little man as well, and he loves it. It makes it easy to just sit him in it, buckle him in, when I am doing laundry or cooking or if I just need to run to the bathroom! They are super affordable as well. This one from Target.com is very similar to the one we have now. And it's only $29.99.
  • Activity Gym- this is actually the same exact mat we used for Mila. We of course kept it and we love using it for tummy time or to just to lay him down when we need to pick up around the house. It comes with cute little ones for them to look at and when they get bigger, they can try reaching for them. This activity gym is currently on sale for $31.99 at Target.com
Diapering/Bath Time:
  • The Honest Company Lotion & Body Wash- there is so many different bath products for babies. We decided to go with The Honest Company this time and we really enjoy the products. We went with the truly calming line and it has a lavender scent. You can get both products in a set for $16.99 at www.target.com
  • Pampers Swaddlers Diapers- just like bath products, there is a lot of different diaper brands out to choose from as well. I have always been a fan of Pampers Swaddlers for newborn babies. So that is what we are currently using. I do have a pretty big stock pile of other size diapers from Pampers and Huggies. But we stick to the swaddlers line for the first month or so.
  • Pampers Sensitive Wipes- I have tried a lot of different wipe brands in the past with Mila, so with little man I knew which ones I was going to use during his newborn stages. I love the Pampers Sensitive wipes. They work amazingly and one thing I love about Pampers is that they have a rewards program which you can enter codes from your diapers and wipes, which will get you points towards free items! I would highly recommend checking it out if Pampers is your go to wipes and diapers.
  • Boudreaux's Butt Paste with Aloe- we had tried a lot of diaper creams in the past, but this time around we went with the Boudreaux's Butt Paste with added Aloe. We haven't had to use it yet since little man is only two weeks old, but I had heard amazing things about this product so I thought we would give it a try!
  • Angelcare Baby Bath Support- I highly recommend picking up this little baby bath support for your kiddo for when you give baths. It makes it so convenient to just put into the bath tub to wash up your baby. We had a different bath tub with Mila and it was just a pain. I like that this one actually goes into the bath tub and you can just add a little bit of water in the actual bath tub. Highly recommend checking out! Target.com has them for $19.99.
Perfect items for when baby gets sick:
  • Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water- this stuff is a life savor! If your baby suffers from gas, stomach discomfort or colic, this stuff will help take the edge off. Little man has been having some bad gas pains, so I give him a little bit a few times a week and it has helped a ton.
  • NoseFrida by Fridababy- if your baby has a stuffed up nose this is perfect to use to get all the snot out. Some people may find it gross since you are literally sucking the snot out for your baby, but it'll help them a ton! We had one with Mila and she hated it, but it for sure worked to clear up some of the congestion.
  • Little Remedies Saline Drops- I have used this with Mila even up to her toddler years. You just spray a couple drops in your babies nose and it helps break up some of the snot to help drain it all out. This works really well with the NoseFrida as well.
Random Items:
  • Swaddles- Mila really enjoyed being swaddle when she was a baby, Corey on the other hand wasn't a huge fan. I still think its something you should have on hand in case your kiddo likes it. We always bought the SwaddleMe. You can usually get a pack of two for around $25.00. They are super nice to use because it keeps the baby all wrapped up tightly and you don't have to worry about them coming undone.

Toddler Gift Ideas For Christmas 2019

This post does contain affiliate links. What that means is that I may receive a small portion if you purchase anything from the links in this post.

Tis the season! I can't believe it is already the beginning of November. Of course I have been in the Christmas mood since the beginning of October, anyone else? Or just me? lol! This time of year is literally my favorite. I love the cold weather, the snow, the Christmas decorations and of course all the yummy treats!

Last year I did quite a few different gift guides, so I thought it would be fun to do some updated ones because I have a lot more gift ideas now that my daughter is 2 1/2. I figured this would be the best time to do a toddler gift guide.

Also, before I get started, I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with our baby boy. I am seriously so excited and it's going to be such a great Christmas with our two kiddos! Even though he will be about a month old come Christmas, I think I am still going to do a Christmas gift guide for newborns. So I think that will be my next post!

But lets go a head and jump right into this toddler girl gift guide.

1. Melissa & Doug Wooden Scoop and Serve Ice Cream Counter: this was the first gift I knew I was going to get my daughter for Christmas. (I actually already ordered it and currently waiting for it to come in the mail). Every time we go to Target, she always has to check it out and she seems so excited. She loves acting like she is making ice cream with random toys she currently has, so I thought this gift would be perfect for it. It's a great way for kids to use their imagination. You can get this set from $35-$45 depending on where you get it from. We ordered ours from Target and used an additional 25% off coupon, so we got it for around $30!
2. Melissa & Doug Farm Friends- if your toddler loves animals, these little sets are perfect. Melissa & Doug has a bunch of different animal sets you can purchase. This set comes with 10 different farm animals. Mila already has a bunch of horses, so I thought this set would be super cute for her to have. These sets retail for around $15.00.
3. Play-Doh Pinkfong Baby Shark Set- anyone else's toddler still obsessed with Baby Shark? It is still constantly played in our household. Within the last few months our daughter has really loved playing with Play-Doh and since she STILL loves Baby Shark, I thought this set would be perfect. It comes with 12 containers of Play-Doh that are non toxic. It also comes with a bunch of different tools as well. And this is the perfect set because its only $9.99!
4. Melissa & Doug Wooden Building Blocks-my grandma has a block set at her house that Mila loves playing with. She will sit there for hours building stuff, so I really want to get her a set for home. It's a great set for kids to use their imagination as well. This set comes with different color wooden blocks and comes with over 100 blocks. There is also 9 different shapes that come in the set as well! You really can't go wrong! Your kiddos will be busy for hours, so a great toy for you to get laundry down, dishes, cleaning etc! ;) You can get a set for around $20.00!
5. Lego Duplo My First All In One Box- just like the wooden blocks, these are also great for toddlers. They are bigger then normal Lego's but smaller then the mega blocks you can get. You can get this set of 65 pieces for only $20.00 right now at Target! I think this is a set we will be picking up for Mila as well!
6. Disney 5-Minute Christmas Stories- I always love picking up a new book for Mila. This is actually the same book we got her last year. It was on sale during Black Friday for only $5. I was looking at the new Target ad for Black Friday and I believe they will have them on sale for $4. They are really big books, so totally worth it! I think I will get her another one this year, just with different stories. Really affordable gift for any kiddo!
7. Melissa & Doug 4-1 Wooden Puzzles- as you can tell, we are huge fans of Melissa & Doug toys! They also make amazing puzzles. We have a few for Mila already but now that shes getting a little older, we want to get her some more advance puzzles. They have so many to choose from and they are price range from $10-$15. Mila has a slight obsession with dinosaurs right now, so this set is perfect. It comes with 4 wooden puzzles with a total of 48 pieces.
8. Mele & Co Krista Girls Musical Ballerina Jewelry Box- one thing I noticed a lot of toddler girls love is, jewelry. This little jewelry box would be so cute to store bows, bracelets and necklaces in! Also to be extra, you could always put some jewelry in the box for them when they open it! Target has some awesome kids jewelry that I think little ones would love! This jewelry box is $24.49 at Target.
9. Melissa & Doug Dress Up Clothes- one thing I really love about Melissa & Doug is that they have amazing dress up clothes for around $25.00. The one I have linked is a super cute hair stylist dress up outfit. It comes with everything to play pretend. They also have a doctor set, police set and many more!

I really hope you enjoyed seeing some of my recommendations! Once I am all done Christmas shopping for Mila, I will do a whole video on YouTube showing you everything I got her for Christmas. I filmed one last year and it went really well, so I for sure want to do that this year as well! Let me know what items you're going to be picking up for your toddler this year!

You guys, it has literally been so so long since I have sat down and wrote a blog post. Life has been crazy the last few months and I can't wait to share everything with you! Based on the title of this post, you already know my announcement, but I am pregnant!

I remember when I posted about being pregnant with our daughter, it seems like ages ago! I mean, in a way it is because she is now going to be two in just three days. I swear time has been going by way too quickly. We knew once Mila turned two that we would be ready to expand our family. I always wanted kids closer in age because my sisters and I are very far apart in age and it did make it hard growing up.

I am currently 9 weeks 5 days and our due date is December 2nd! Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year, so I was so excited to find out that we would be having this baby before Christmas.

I plan on doing more pregnancy updates here on my blog as well as on YouTube. I have linked my YouTube video below if you wanted to see my pregnancy announcement over there. I can't wait to bring you all on this journey with my family and I.

This palette was sent to be as a PR gift. All opinions are 100% my own. This blog does contain affiliated links and ads, which means I may receive a small portion when you click on an ad and purchase from the link below. It does not cost you anything extra.

Happy March everyone! I can't believe it is already the third month of the new year! Time has seriously been going by so fast and my little baby will be turning two in two months! I seriously cannot believe it!

I had taken a little break from blogging but I am back and super excited because I have a lot of new beauty products I wanted to share and review for you guys! For today's post, we are talking about the Pixi Beauty Natural Beauty eyeshadow palette. I had received a PR gift from Pixi and it included this palette and another one, but this was the one that was calling my name.

This palette is filled with a lot of beautiful cool tone shades. There is also a mix of shimmer and matte shades.

Let's go over the colors in the palette! I am not sure if they have specific names, so we will just go by the swatches below from left to right:
  • matte cream
  • shimmery taupe/blush pink (this one is very chunky and does have some fall out. I would recommend using fix+ to apply this product on the eyelid.
  • shimmery beige
  • pink shimmer shade
  • medium cool toned brown (I love using this shade as a transition shade)
  • another shimmer shade but is more of a rose gold
  • matte dark brown
  • shimmery cooper
  • purple/brown matte
  • dark brown matte
  • medium/dark brown that has a hint of glitter
  • very dark brown with a hint of glitter

I thought the shimmer shades really shined in this palette. The mattes were a little dry and a bit harder to blend. This is considered a drugstore palette but it does retail for $24.00, so it is pretty pricey compared to other drug store brands.

I wish the mattes performed a little bit better because I tend to wear more mattes then shimmers. I do think the colors in the palette are beautiful, but I would rather buy a Morphe palette for the $24.00 price point.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this palette! It can be purchased at www.target.com for $24.00.

This post is sponsored by Posh Peanut. All opinions are 100% my own and I would never recommend a product that  I didn't truly love. This post does contain affiliate links and ads.

Being a first time momma, I have learned a lot when it comes to raising a child. And one of those things I learned is that babies and toddlers love to be comfy. And sometimes it is super hard to find cute, comfy clothes for our kids. Which is why I was so excited to come by Posh Peanut on Amazon.

They have a wide range of clothing for babies, toddlers and mommas as well. They have gowns for babies, (which are literally the cutest!), robes for momma and even cute little slippers!

The piece that Mila is wearing in this post is their one piece silky soft romper. This romper is one of the softest pieces of clothing I have ever felt and Mila loves it. It is silky, super breathable and light weight.

This specific romper comes in two shades, Country Rose and Fuchsia Wild Flower. I chose the Fuchsia Wild Flower and I love the colors. It is the perfect piece from transitioning from winter to spring. I love the floral and the bright fun colors.

This romper is 100% cotton and has a really nice buttery soft texture to it. It is nice and stretchy so Mila can climb over everything and move around without being uncomfortable.

We did get the size 18-24months and Mila is currently 21 months old and usually wears a size 18months in pants and a 2T in shirts. I found this fit her perfectly.

It also has this beautiful ruffle detailing down the front that just really adds to the outfit. It does have buttons which I love because it does make it easier when I am changing Mila's diaper.

I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on more. And once we have another baby, I know he or she will be living in Posh Peanut. You can purchase this romper from Amazon for only $33.95 and if you have Amazon Prime, you get free shipping!

If you would like to purchase one of the Posh Peanut Rompers, you can do so here: https://amzn.to/2MWFgXT

Being a stay at home mom, I am always looking for tips and tricks to help save money at the grocery store. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to budget since we do only have one income for our household. So today I thought I would share with you some of my tips and tricks to help save money while grocery shopping. I found that these work really well for my family and I and I hope you can get some use out of them as well!

TIP #1:
Make a shopping list-
  • If you are someone who doesn't make a grocery list, you really should! Each time we go grocery shopping I always make a list.
  • Make sure you go through everything in your cupboard first to see if you have any products that can be used in your meals for the week. That way you are using up things you have at home first before going out and buying a much more food.
  • I always go through my fridge, freezer, cupboard and my stock pile in the laundry room.
  • I base my meals on what I have at home already and what items I need to finish up a meal.
  • On my list I always right down what is on the menu for the week and then go from there.
  • If you go to the store without a list, you will end up buying a bunch of things you truly do not need.
TIP #2:
Set a budget-
  • Based on what is on your grocery list, set a limit on how much you want to spend.
  • If you are buying groceries that include a lot of meat, your budget may have to be set a little higher since meat is usually more expensive.
  • Have either a calculator or your phone out to help keep track of how much you are spending.
TIP #3:
Use coupons-
  • Once you have your list done of what items you need, see if you have any coupons you can use. Coupons.com has free coupons you can print and you can also find free coupons on the P&G website as well.
  • I always try to find at least one or two coupons to use per trip. And sometimes I can even get free items as well.
Compare Ads-
  • We do our grocery shopping on Sunday's when all of the new ads come out. Compare prices are your favorite stores and see which store has the best deals.
  • If one store has meat on sale and another has your paper products on sale, its totally fine to go to both stores! I am all for finding the BEST deals, so if a store right next to each other have different deals, I will go to both.
TIP #5:
Use money saving apps-
  • I created a whole blog post on my favorite money saving apps that you can check out here. I highly recommend checking that post out because I go into a lot of detail on how the apps work and why they are my favorite.
  • Also, be sure to see if the store that you are shopping at has an app. We shop a lot at Meijer for groceries and they have an app you can use to save money. It comes with coupons and each time you purchase something, it go towards your goal where you can get money off your next purchase. So always make sure to check to see if a specific store has an app. I highly recommend downloading the Target app as well so you can use the Cartwheel.

Also a few other random tips:

  • Do not go grocery shopping while hungry. You will end up buying so much food and spending a lot more money. We always make sure to eat breakfast or lunch before we head out.
  • Only plan to go to the store once a week. If you follow your list and get everything you need for the week, you won't have to go back out. But if you don't make a list, more then likely you will have to take more trips to the store and you will end up spending more money in the long run. So just try sticking going to the store once a week.
I really hope you found this post helpful! Please let me know if you would like some other money saving tips for other things besides groceries! I have learned a lot the last couple of years with being a stay at home mom.

Best Drugstore Eyeshadow Palette L'Oreal Paradise Enchanted Scented Eyeshadow Palette

This blog contains affiliated links and ads. I may receive a small portion if you purchase through one of my links which doesn't cost you anything.

I have totally missed doing beauty reviews and thought it would be a good time to do a new review! I have been using the L'Oreal Paradise Enchanted Scented Eyeshadow Palette for a while now and I must say, I am in love. If you are looking for a good drugstore palette, you are going to want to continue reading on!

This palette is so beautiful and it smells amazing (in my opinion), if you aren't a fan of scents, you probably won't like it. But I am a sucker for anything that smells amazing. And this one for sure has a fruit scent, kind of peachy.

The shades in this palette are stunning. There is a mix of matte and shimmery shades. I also find the texture of these shadows to be very comparable to the single infallible eyeshadows. They are very buttery and blend like a dream. I did notice there was a little bit of fall out with the shimmery shades, but when I use a little bit of fix+ by MAC, it helps a lot!

I love how this palette is divided up. You can come up with many different looks. The top six shades are perfect for an everyday look and the bottom six are perfect to make a warm smokey eye look. I personally reach for the top six more.

The mattes are very pigmented and don't appear chalky. They have a buttery formula and everything blends really smooth. The shimmery shades are also very pigmented and have a soft buttery feel as well. The shimmers look perfect padded in the middle of your eye, or even just all over the lid. And I like that there is some deeper matte shades that help deepen up the crease.

Not only is this palette amazing, it is also affordable! It is only $14.99 and can be purchased at www.ulta.com. I do know Ulta has a lot of sales on their drugstore makeup, so you could potentially get it for even cheaper.

Being a stay at home mom, I love finding awesome products on a budget! I also love the blushes and lipsticks that are part of this line! I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

My Holy Grail Beauty Products of 2018

This blog contains affiliated links and ads. I may receive a small portion if you purchase through one of my links which doesn't cost you anything.

Holy moly guys, it is officially 2019! I am so excited for the new year and wanted my first post of 2019 to be a reflection on my holy grail beauty products for 2019. I had a crazy journey for 2018 when it came to beauty products. I got rid of about 80% of my makeup collection and out of that 80%, these are the products I used the most in 2018. And some of them are super close to reaching pan. I think I am going to try and do a little project pan coming up soon so I can officially use up a lot of the products that I have kept in my makeup collection! So let's get on into my holy grail products of 2018.

Let's first go over all of my holy grail face products:
  • It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50- I have been using this CC cream forever (been through multiple tubes) and this tube is almost completely gone as well. I have talked about this product so many times in the past and its literally my favorite. It has awesome coverage, smells amazing and includes SPF 50. If you are looking for a light weight foundation, I would highly recommend picking this one up.
  • Erborian CC Cream High Definition Radiance Face Cream Skin Profector- this stuff is also amazing. I love using this on days where I am in a rush. I just apply some product to my finger tips and just blend all over my face a neck. It gives a light coverage and its perfect for everyday where.
  • Benefit Porefessional Face Primer: I have also been using this same primer for years. It is one of the best that I have found that really fill in your pores. It also helps make my foundation look better as well.
  • It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Poreless Pressed Powder- I love using this product to set my whole entire face. I use it on top of the Erborian CC cream to set everything into place. It is a translucent powder and does exactly what I need it to do.
  • Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder- I use this powder to bake under my eyes when I wear concealer. I don't wear concealer too often, but when I do, this powder is perfect to set it. I have been using this powder for years and it's honestly one of the best powders out their.
  • MAC Sudio Fix 24-Hour Smooth Wear Concealer- when I do wear concealer, it has been this stuff! I like it because it feels really light weight under my eyes. I actually wore this on my wedding day as well!
  • Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Contour Powder- this is by far my favorite contour powder that I have ever used. I have it in the shade light and its the perfect cool tone contour powder for my skin tone. I use it to contour and as a bronzer. I am super close to hitting pan!
  • Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso- this is one of the prettiest blushes that I have ever owned. I am also getting super close to hitting pan on it as well. Is it such a beautiful peachy coral blush with a little hint of shimmer. Looks so natural and beautiful on the cheeks.
  • Essence Pure Nude Highlighter- I am someone that isn't into really intense highlight, so this Essence one is a huge hit for me. It gives you such a pretty glow without making it too noticeable. It is super subtle which I love. And it's also less then $5!

Now onto the eye and lip products!
  • Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil- when I got my eyebrows waxed before my wedding, they used this on my eyebrows after and I fell in love. I can't believe I wasn't using this product before! It is nice and creamy so it makes filling in my eyebrows much easier. I need to pick up a full size because I am almost out of this one!
  • Pixi Brow Gel- I have been loving this to set my brows! It is super affordable and does a great job setting in all the hairs into place.
  • L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara- I am in love with this packaging on this mascara but I also love the product. The wand makes it so easy to get all of your lashes coated with mascara. It also does a great job at separating the lashes and making them appear longer. One of my favorite drug store mascaras!
  • MAC Lipstick in Faux- this is one of the prettiest lipsticks in the world. I wear it 90% of the time when I do wear lipstick. It is the perfect brown/pinky/nude and I think it flatters a lot of skin tones!

So those are all of the products that I have been loving and using in 2018. I would love to hear what some of your holy grail products were in 2018. I am so excited for 2019 and can't wait to try out a few more products that I have been having my eye on. I do want to use up a few of these products first, which I will keep you guys updated on!
